Stop lying about MH370, Anwar!

Posted: 21 May 2014 08:02 PM PDT

Putrajaya yesterday asked Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim to stop smearing Malaysia's image in the eyes of the world with regard to his allegation that the cargo manifest for Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 had been deleted or covered up.

I think its time for 'bro' Anwar to come to his senses too and treat Malaysia as how he did during his era in the Cabinet.
In a brief statement, Putrajaya today denied allegations by Anwar that the cargo manifest for Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 had been deleted or covered up.
Putrajaya said the complete cargo manifest for Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 had been released on May 1.
"Anwar's allegation that the manifest had been deleted or covered up is false," the statement read.
"Anwar is trying to smear Malaysia's reputation by implying that Malaysian officials were complicit in a terrorist act regarding MH370," Putrajaya said.
"The cargo manifest allegation is just the latest attempt by Anwar to exploit the MH370 tragedy and damage the country's reputation for his personal gain."
On Tuesday, Anwar claimed that the cargo manifest for flight MH370 had been deleted by "people in authority" as part of efforts to conceal information on the plane's disappearance.
In an interview by Caro Meldrum-Hanna for the Australian Broadcasting Corp's Four Corners programme yesterday, Anwar said his sources told him that the manifest had been deleted.
"I could not verify that, the only reasonable action I could take was to raise specific questions and demand the cargo manifest," he said.
He wasn't sure whether his source was telling him the truth or not. Is it believed whoever told him that story was lying and harbors bad intention against MAS and the government.

Politics aside, Anwar could have verified the source before telling it to others, unless he too wanted to burn down the country's good name and image abroad.

The DCA and Immarsat are simplifying the raw data of MH370 before releasing it soon. This means, everything about the flight, its path, passengers and tracking will be made public. Hence, Anwar should wait before whacking the government again, if he wants to.

On March 24, Malaysia Airlines (MAS) chief executive officer Ahmad Jauhari Yahya had said there were about 200kg of lithium batteries onboard the plane that were packed safely and more than four tonnes of mangosteens.

The Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) and Inmarsat were working to simplify the raw data regarding Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 from the British satellite firm before releasing it to the public.

The release of the raw data was expected to happen soon, DCA director-general Datuk Azharuddin Abdul Rahman said yesterday, with the simplified version in the form of an accompanying technical explanation.

This follows demand from the next-of-kin of those aboard MH370.

On Tuesday, acting Transport Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, in a statement, said the government had instructed DCA to discuss with Inmarsat on releasing the raw data.

Hosni Mubarak gets 3 years jail

A court in Egypt has sentenced former President Hosni Mubarak to three years in prison after finding him guilty of embezzling public funds.

His two sons, Alaa and Gamal, were also convicted and given four-year terms. The three were also fined $3m (£1.8m) and ordered to repay the $17.6m they were accused of stealing.

Mubarak, 86, is also on trial for abuse of power and conspiring in the killing of protesters during the 2011 uprising that forced him to resign.

He was found guilty of the charge relating to the protesters in 2012 along with former Interior Minister Habib al-Adly, and sentenced to life in prison.

But in January 2013 the Court of Cassation upheld an appeal by the two men against their convictions on technical grounds and ordered a retrial.

In August, a court ordered Mubarak's release from prison and transfer to a military hospital in Cairo, where he is being held under house arrest.

Gamal, the president's one-time heir apparent, and Alaa, a wealthy businessman, are also being retried on separate corruption charges.

NOTE: Moral of the story - no one escapes the law, including our Malaysian politicians!

RSN Rayer must apologise!

Posted: 21 May 2014 04:45 AM PDT

Seri Delima assemblyman RSN Rayer must be held responsible should the Penang Malays and elsewhere (especially Umno members) vent their anger unpleasantly that could easily spark racial riot over his statement that 'Umno is a celaka party'.

I wonder if he simply uttered it to get some publicity but he should be well aware that the Malays had been constantly provoked by politicians like him.

If he got balls, he should say in openly, publicly and not in the legislative building.
Pro-Umno supporters stormed into the hall of the Penang Legislative Building this afternoon in an unprecedented assault on a Malaysian democratic institution.
About 10 out of some 60 protesters managed to break through the automatic gates and stormed the hall during the 2.15pm incident.
While inside, they shouted for Seri Delima assemblymen RSN Rayer, who was not present, to apologise for his anti-Umno remarks he made in the House on Monday.
The session was in recess then and the protesters were later escorted outside the building by the House's protocol unit after about 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, protesters outside lined up a row of eggs with degradetory remarks on the shells, a seemingly thinly veiled reference to testicular fortitude.
Spokesman for the group, Penang Umno Youth deputy chief Jasmin Noordin called upon Rayer to retract his remarks. He challenged the two-term representative to repeat what he said outside the hall and cast aspersions on his bravery to do so.
"Repeat it outside to my face," he said in a press conference outside the building while reiterated his challenge.
Protesters later dispersed at about 4.10pm after state opposition leader Datuk Jahara Hamid and Pulau Betong assemblyman Muhamad Farid Saad assured them they will be handling the issue.
Jahara said she will ask Rayer to apologise for his remarks which sparked the whole brouhaha when the assembly convenes tomorrow.
He forgot where he stands!

As a wakil rakyat, he should observe what is supposed to be observed. Unless he really wants problem... a lot of problems!

He must apologise...
