Act firm, a 13th May 1969 eye-witness tells Najib's new Cabinet Posted: 13 May 2013 10:06 AM PDT
In Singapore, 21 Malaysians who thought they could do in the republic what they had been free to do back home were swiftly arrested. The Singapore government wasted no time to warn all foreigners that they'd better not "import" their domestic problems to the island. There have been no more protests after that. Former diplomat Mustapha Ong, who remembers with dread the racial riots of 13 May 1969, says the Rakyat want Najib Razak's new government to act as swiftly and firmly against a brewing, potentially explosive problem. He posted the following on his FB about an hour before midnight ... By Mustapha OngToday is the D-Day that most of us in my generation and aged group will remember the black day of 13th May, l969. This historical day for Malaysia's first ever racial riots which had started as a victory parade by the winning parties from both sides of the political divide had turned sour.
The supporters of DAP, PAS and UMNO turned hysterically uncontrolled in the streets skirmishes from Kuala Lumpur and spread northward, Eastward and southward from N.Sembilan and down to Melaka and part of Johor. Fortunately, the security forces including the Police were efficient to diffuse the ugly riots, which had killed a few hundred people and properties destroyed by those massive demonstrators between the rightist Chinese and the Malays. Malaysians should never forget this unfortunate episodes and hopefully will now learn from the negative effects of the racial riots that had inflicted the peaceful people and nation from 1969 until 1971 when the country was administered by MAGERAN (ADMINISTRATIVE SECURITY COUNCIL) established by the late PM Tun Razak. Parliament was temporarily suspended.
In the thirst and greed for power by the notable leaders of DAP, PAS and PKR under the loosely coalition pact, is hoping to overthrow the BN democratically elected government by force and political perception that the recently concluded 13th general election was rigged and flaws. The Opposition have been challenged by the authority, SPR and PDRM to provide proof to support their accusations, etc and seek legal address through the court of law. However, they had chosen to go to the street and challenged the law in staging massive anti BN government demonstrations and rallies, from 6th May until today, 13th May with the hope that racial clashes by the people will aggravate the security situation in order to create chaos and instability, just like the aftermath of 13th May. I believe they are still going on their stupid road shows, to empower the strength from their die hard supporters led by Anwar and Lim Kit Siang. There remains another few hours and hopefully that their demonstrations and rallies will end with a naught and is not life threatening. We should see the light of tomorrow peacefully and life goes on despite the anti government calls to overthrow the BN government .. Ubah, Ubah, Ubah Kerajaan BN yang Korup, etc. Hopefully, the Cabinet will be announced latest by Wednesday which will give the upper hand to deal with the explosive security problems by the PM and the Home Affairs Minister, without having to resort to the establishment of MAGERAN. No more leniency and those who fight against the government's legal institution should be arrested before trial. If they still want to waste time and demonstrate, they should only be allowed to do so in their own backyard, i.e Selangor, Penang and Kelantan. They have no jurisdiction whatsoever to challenge the BN government of other states and should be advised to get lost from those BN states. The government needs to be firm and cannot afford to flip-flop in their role and responsibility to ensure safety for the people and nation.
Nobody should be above the law and with so many evidences against the opposition leaders from seeking foreign funds, media and other indirect support should be bought in for police detention pending legal proceedings against the state, i.e acts of sabotage and treason against the people and government. It is a wake-up call for the newly-elected BN government under the leadership of PM Najib Tun Razak to be on the offensive once the Cabinet is working. The following are the concerns of our fellow Malaysians and also from some foreign media entities: 1. Malaysians have forgotten (A.M. Noran, KL NST Mayay 13th); 2. Foreign 'experts' should stay out of our affairs (S. Punto, KL NST May 13th); 3. Be a gentleman and accept results (Hassan Talib, Gombak NST May 13th); 4. Proxy of foreign interest (The Mole May 13th) These articles provide interesting inputs for information and further investigation, apart from the hundreds of police reports and also other peaceful pro-BN government demonstrations against the opposition leader Anwar and Lim Kit Siang. When will all these end as nobody will gain or could overthrow this BN government as envisaged by our foreign government allies? Malaysians should return to sanity and move this nation forward in true democracy and not DEMOCRAZY! |
