D.unggu A.gama P.arty Or Singapore Fling?

Political movements which have launched their "struggles" based on racial chauvinism  will rarely be successful. Racial politics can be successful only if they represent a racial grouping which is really oppressed and poor.  And their success will last only as long as their racial group  remains oppressed and poor.  Once their racial group is not oppressed and is no more poor the need for their "struggle" will die a natural death.

But if they represent a constituency which makes up the largest owners of Mercedes Benz, BMWs and Lexus in the country (or maybe even in the world - on a per capita basis) then it is not the poor and the oppressed they are fighting for anymore. They are fighting for more money.

So when they insist that they want to rule the country, they are saying "I am cleverer than you in making more money, I am more efficient than you in making more money. I can make more money. I want to rule the country because I want to make more money".

There is a small catch here : what about other racial groups who are not as rich as them?  Or will it be, "Who gives a hoot about them? They are not clever anyway."

Too much craving for money can make some of them feel guilty - maybe during a blue moon. Feeling guilty can then make them easy prey for the religious charlatans.  The religious conmen will say, "Its alright my son. Its alright to make money. Let me pray to Neon our Saviour to bless your money. We can make it halal for you to make even more money. Just put some of your money in the collection box in the name of Neon our Saviour - he gives us light."

These are the 'got money got religion' guys aka "no money no religion". Folks, do you notice how often the religious people  hang  around the rich people?  When it comes to money, all "religions" are the same - there are no exceptions.

So we find that even the so called 'socialist' and supposedly atheist political parties can be influenced by the religious people.  Or is it the other way around?

In Singapore, true to their socialist ideals and also to their great credit, the PAP has taken great pains to keep religion out of politics and Government.  This has been one of their primary objectives since Day 1.  At one time the PAP even cavorted with the atheist Communists to achieve its ambitions.  Once they came to power, the PAP promptly jailed many of the Communists.  It was a marriage of convenience with the Communists - a Singapore Fling.  Soon the Communists got flung.

Today the DAP is also cavorting with the religious groups - in this case the christian church. They are using the church networks to incite non Muslim voters against the Government.  But they are going about it the wrong way - by inciting hatred.

It is bad enough that politics can be explosive. Religion on the other hand is always  nonsensical and irrational. Mix the two and you get explosive, nonsensical and irrational people.  We have seen them for 50 years in PAS. Now there is also an increasing religious element in UMNO. If we are not careful, UMNO may outdo PAS in irrational religious behaviour.

Exactly how the DAP came to be so religion centric can be debated. Or is it just another marriage of convenience?  Other than having pencil and paper at hand in the toilet, have George Soros' NED and Open Society boys been telling them to exploit anything and anyone just to get an extra vote? Is the church just a convenient sleeping partner. Like the PAP had a fling with the Communists in Singapore?

It cannot be denied that some church people are looking at the DAP to give the church a higher profile in Malaysia.

All kinds of wild coffee shop talk is floating around, imagining a post-BN Malaysia. Here is some of the coffee shop talk. I call it wild coffee shop talk because all this will never happen in Malaysia.  Our country will burn down first in irreparable racial and religious conflict before these wild ideas ever see the light of day in this country.

I am not debating the merits or demerits of these ideas. Some of these ideas are perhaps worth pondering. But in today's scenario these are just too explosive. This is playing with fire. Here is what I heard about a post-BN Malaysia :
  1. Christianity shall also be recognised as one of the official religions in Malaysia
  2. Good Friday and Easter shall become public holidays
  3. The azan (call to prayer) can be heard inside the mosque only
  4. Majlis Agama Islam will be disbanded
  5. There will be a Menteri Gereja (?) in Cabinet to oversee christian issues
  6. Religion will not be allowed in political parties so PAS will  be deregistered
  7. Children's religion can only be determined after they are 18 years old
  8. Malaysia will become a republic - the Republic of Malaysia.
  9. The Negaraku will be changed
  10. Penang, Melaka, Sabah and Sarawak can have non-Muslim Governors
  11. The IGP and Chief of Armed Forces can be non-Muslim
  12. The Royal Malay Regiment will be disbanded
  13. The Civil Service will be reduced by 40%
  14. English and Mandarin shall also be official languages
  15. Chin Peng will be welcomed back and made a "Tun".
  16. MARA will be disbanded
  17. Kemas, BTN, MKN will be shut down
  18. Pekida, Perkasa, Gabungan Graduan Melayu will be labelled 'terrorist organisations'
1 to 5 are just not feasible. 6 should have been done decades ago. The Indonesians have done it. 10 and 11 are nothing new. We have had an Indian who was Chief of Navy. We have Indian Vice Admirals now - in Maritim Malaysia.  (There is also a very sick Tamil who is a Rear Admiral and leader of the Pakatan). A 'mamak' was Prime Minister for 22 years. Big deal.

15 is stupid.

From a practical angle, these things are not feasible in Malaysia. This is just wild coffee shop talk. So why talk about things like these? Simple : to incite peoples' emotions. To get the angry vote. This is playing with fire.

But coming to the DAP and the church, who is the 'flinger' and who is the 'flingee'? Leopards dont change spots. They can change their initials.

No Scorpene trial in France

(Bernama) - A prominent French government prosecutor has denied reports circulating among some Malaysian online news portals of an ongoing trial in France, on allegations of corruption by a French company over the purchase of two French-made Scorpene submarines by Malaysia in 2002.

Yves Charpenel said the media in Malaysia should be able to distinguish between rumours and facts, and between investigations and a trial.

"I am aware about all the fuss kicked up by certain media (organisations) in Malaysia over this matter but what I can say is that this is nothing more than a trial by the media," he told Bernama here today.

Charpenel, who was a former head of prosecution in France and now a state prosecutor and an executive member of the International Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities (IAACA), was here to attend the four-day IAACA conference and general meeting which ended yesterday.

Following a complaint filed in 2009 by Suaram, a Malaysian human rights non-governmental organisation (NGO), that a French company had allegedly paid bribes to a Malaysian firm for the submarine deal, he revealed that two independent "investigating judges" started their investigations earlier this year.

Charpenel said that in France, as in other countries practising the rule of law, all investigations were done in absolute secret.

He said, it was anybody's right to file a complaint and due to the secret nature of the investigations, some resorted to complaining to the media.

He explained that for specific cases in France, the Justice Ministry would ask an independent judge, called an "investigating judge", to investigate.

"He is just an investigator. This is an old system that started from the Napolean era. If the investigating judge wants someone to come to Malaysia, he has to ask from your government because we have what is called the Treaty of Mutual Legal Assistance. And the Malaysian government can say 'yes' or 'no'. It has to be decided by the Malaysian authorities.

"A French investigating judge cannot take his luggage, take a plane and go to Malaysia and ask someone to answer his questions. It is impossible, it is against the French law and it is also against international law," stressed Charpenel.

In April this year, local opposition politicians here had even called for Malaysian officials to testify in Paris or risk being ostracised in the European Union.

"A trial is a trial with all the rules. Investigation is another thing," said Charpenel of the misinformation generated by certain news portals over allegations that a trial was already underway.
