The police today released pictures of 11 people suspected of assaulting members of the media during the anti-GST demonstration near Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad, Kuala Lumpur on May 1.

City police also made a posting its Facebook page yesterday and sought assistance from the public in tracing the suspects.

Following two reports lodged by media personnel who were attacked by the group, who called themselves 'Anarchy', police conducted investigations and viewed several newspaper reports and closed-circuit television footage to identify the culprits involved in the assault.

Those with information on the 11 people sought by police should call the Dang Wangi police headquarters at 03-26977099.

The suspects can be charged under Section 147 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail sentence of two years, a fine or both, upon conviction.

The perpetrators, from a larger group of more than 30 youths who were mostly clad in black, with some wearing 'Guy Fawkes' masks, attacked press photographers in the 5pm incident. Wooden flag poles and water bottles were also thrown at the photographers, injuring two of them.

The war rages on...

The 'war' between former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim enters a new phase, with both launching personal assassination amid the latter's last ditch to avoid the 5-year year jail sentence by the Court of Appeal last month.

In his latest statement, Dr Mahathir chided Anwar who recently gave a talk on 'Islamic values' in Indonesia, calling is former deputy as 'not fit to talk about the subject'.

Anwar, on the other hand insinuated that 'its time for the old man to repent'.

Dr Mahathir:
JAKARTA, May 14 (Bernama) -- Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad today slammed opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim for giving a talk on Islamic civilisation and values at a university in Indonesia when he is facing a moral issue.
Dr Mahathir said the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) de factor leader had no right to deliver a religious lecture because he himself was facing a moral issue.
"If he wants to talk on islam, he should at least practise its teachings and not do what is forbidden by the religion.
"I'm surprised how (the organisers) could accept a person like him (Anwar) to speak on a topic which he has no right at all to lecture on," he said after receiving an honorary doctorate from Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University, here, Wednesday.
Dr Mahathir said many leaders spoke on Islam but their practices and lifestyle were different from that preached by the religion. The Indonesian media recently reported that Anwar was invited to deliver an executive lecture on "Islamic Values and Revival of the Muslim Ummah" at the Al-Azhar University, Indonesia campus, here.
Anwar Ibrahim:
Kalau Dr Mahathir ingin tahu apa sebabnya, jawapannya cukup terang.
Apakah Dr Mahathir berhasil "membunuh" Anwar? Tidak sama sekali!
A-ahhh... Too personal!
