Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim, in questioning the government over Syed Mokhtar Albukhary's monopoly of the sugar industry, has all this while closed his eyes on his fellow MP buddy from DAP Tony Pua and others for their 'even dirtier game' to help YTL dominate the IPP (independent power producer) industry.

Hoping that Malaysians would be blinded by his mounting attacks on Syed Mokhtar, plus Lim Kit Siang continuous effort to 'kill' the only Malay billionaire over Bernas issue, is giving him the miscreant look.

Taking the cue from Rockybru's Tony Pua a YES man?, it is beyond comprehension how DAP and Anwar-led Pakatan Rakyat - once seen as being YTL biggest critic - is now working alongside with the conglomerate, helping and lobbying for it to get more IPP projects!

While there are already many Chinese billionaires against one Syed Mokhtar in the country, Anwar & Gang are more concern about the domination of 'one Melayu' than the monopoly given to the non-Malays, and just because there are more non-Malay billionaires, getting rid of this one Malay will have no impact on the market.

Now, who talks racism?

And lets read veteran journo A Kadir Jasin's comment to Rockybru posting:

1. The PR parties, the DAP in particular, have become very close to corporate tycoons since they took over Penang and Selangor.
2. So what's the surprise if young DAP members are becoming close and taking sides in corporate deals?
3. Unlike Lim Kit Siang, the last of the DAP ideologue, the younger DAP activists are not ideological. They are practical.
4. It is an open secret that Chinese and Indian companies and tycoons, even those who were made or rescued by Umno leaders, are well treated by the PR in Penang and Selangor. The Malays are not so lucky. They are branded Umno's Cronies.
5. In Penang, some of the BN-era Chinese companies and tycoons received better treatment from the DAP-led state government.
6. Surely it is not a one-way traffic. You scratch my back, I scratch yours. PR in Penang will sooner or later (if not already) be financially stable thanks to political donations from these companies and tycoons.
7. I am sure it already happened during the 2013 GE. It is for this money/wealth reason that PR was gunning after Johor in 2013. The richer the states, the easier it is for the PR to collect political donations.
8. So what is so surprising if Tony Pua or/and other PR novices take side in corporate deals and bids? DAP is not a party send down by the heavens.

I don't want to add to AKJ's comment but would like to remind Anwar, Lim Kit Siang, Karpal, Tony and those in Pakatan Rakyat that when you talk about 'monopoly', you should as well look at Astro, Genting and a few non-Malay dominated businesses.

A Kadir Jasin, being the only Malay publisher, was sidelined during Pak Lah's era. A close aide to the former PM (and AKJ's colleague) put a halt to his contract with a GLC, thus forcing AKJ to restructure and streamline his business.

Even PM Najib fails to create opportunity for Melayu like AKJ who harbors an objective to turn Berita Publishing into another Pustaka Antara, once the pride of the nation for being the largest Bumiputra publisher in the region.

But who controls and monopolises the industry today? A Melayu? Are we being fair with our statements and judgements?

Read Anwar's attack on Syed Mokhtar:

Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim ratcheted up his Kajang by-election campaign last night, focusing on rising living costs and attacking tycoon Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Albukhary and his sugar monopoly.
Putrajaya has eliminated the sugar subsidy, increasing prices by 34 sen a kilo but most consumers complain more about fuel subsidy cuts that have seen pump prices and electricity rates go up.
"The price of sugar increased because it is monopolised by Syed Mokhtar. I am against Umno, BN, including the big names in the party," said Anwar in front of about 300 residents in Taman Impian Murni.
The sugar industry is currently monopolised by Central Sugar Refinery, owned by Syed Mokhtar's Tradewinds, and plantation giant Felda Global Venture's Malaysian Sugar Manufacturing.
"Syed Mokhtar is worth billions of ringgit. I do not hate him. I have nothing personal against him but I do not like the fact that sugar is monopolised by one person and because of that, the people have to pay," he said.

Oh yeah? Who was Anwar trying to dodge? Did he say anything when Robert Kuok was our sugar kingpin?

And if Syed Mokhtar has been accused of being Umno's cash register, what's the motive of Pakatan Rakyat being chummy with the well-diversified YTL Group of Companies?
