'Em sai kheng' lor, Kit Siang! Posted: 31 Jul 2013 12:12 PM PDT When the court declared Umno an illegal organisation on technical ground in 1988, party president Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his team did not object to the ruling. They abide and respected the decision instead. However, when the Registrar of Society (ROS) did not recognise DAP's Central Executive Committee (CEC) - also on technical ground - Lim Kit Siang and his squadron were all fumed up. DAP did not accept the 'verdict', let alone took ROS directive for the CEC election be held again! Lim and his team neither respect nor recognise any law. To them, they are the law and as such, nobody could tell them of their wrongdoings. What a snobbish and arrogant lot they are! DAP is unable to accept the directive of the Registrar of Societies' (ROS) decision that the party will need to hold fresh polls, said secretary general Lim Guan Eng on Wednesday. The question is, why did Lim and his son Lim Guan Eng, Karpal and the rest feel 'petrified' at the thought of having a fresh CEC poll? Since the ROS has nullified the CEC election and instructed for a fresh election, why couldn't they just accept the fact and obey it? I believe this is the only avenue for the DAP stalwart to fend his team from the accusation of 'dictating' who and who should be election to the CEC. Why not? Party members had lodged police reports above the manner in which the CEC election was held, and this is the golden opportunity for Lim to clear his name from the label 'dictator' given by some, including those with the party. Lim Guan Eng had n February this year 'confessed' about a tabulation error during party elections in December, which resulted in relatively unknown grassroots leader Vincent Wu Him Ven being elected into the CEC. Revised results later allowed Lim's political secretary Zairil Khir Johari, now Bukit Bendera MP, to be elected into committee. What a farce! However, despite acknowledging the error and appointing an auditing firm to tabulate votes for future elections, allegations of vote tabulation manipulation and non-issuance of notices for party elections have dogged DAP. And how could Lim Kit Siang claimed that the party was being punished for being honest by admitting to the error. What honesty was he talking when he and a few others were the ones who determined those who should be appointed to the CEC? And on what ground was he accusing the ROS as being bias and simply wanted DAP to be closed down. Come on, man! Umno became stronger after that 1988 episode. If Lims and Singhs want to reassure party members that DAP is a 'democratic party', may as well they take ROS advice! What are you scared of, Lim? |
