Anwar and Misuari could spoil Moro deal

Posted: 21 Oct 2012 10:20 PM PDT

The Bangsamoro Framework Agreement signed at the Malacanang Palace in Manila last Monday could not augur well in bringing about peace in Mindanao.

Its going through a slalom, notably when there is opposition from within Moro itself and an attempt by outsiders to disrupt the whole peace process. Ironically, the threat is coming from dejected leaders - in the Philippines and Malaysia!

The main problem with some former leaders is that, they think they are still very much in power and still have the say in all government's decision.

Its all about Anwar Ibrahim and Nur Misuari.
Former Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) Governor Nur Misuari, the founding chairman of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF), yesterday branded as "irrelevant" the signing of the Bangsamoro Framework Agreement, claiming it was cloned by President Benigno S. Aquino III in association with Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.
Unable to make his trip to Quezon City due to an unconfirmed report of a warrant of arrest issued against him, Misuari over phone patch also lashed out at the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), claiming that the latter is losing its grip over of its own people and that joining the agreement was the last straw to salvage some pride.
In the case of Najib, Misuari said the Malaysian Premier wanted to create a scenario with the Philippine government to gain lost grounds and to address his allegedly waning popularity as his country's national elections approach.
Misuari said he has not received a copy of the alleged warrant of arrest nor has he knowledge of the nature of the charge raised against him, claiming that his sources from the Philippines National Police (PNP) and the media with links in Malacanang and Justice Department gave him advance information.
Misuari was a special guest to the Malaysian government during the 1990s when Tun Dr Mahathir was prime minister and Fidel Ramos was president of the the Philippines. We recognised him as the MNLF leader who spoke for the entire Muslim community of Mindanao.

However, he went against Manila for not having his wish granted by Malacanang although a series of meeting proved he refused to compromise on the conditions of an autonomous Moro region. He thinks he is always right.

And that's why he didn't recognise the agreement between MILF and Manila, avowing to continue with the armed war against the government. He won't shut up either.

And in Malaysia, opposition party PKR got plans to go to Manila. They is offering another set of 'peace solution' for Mindanao.

Former leader Anwar Ibrahim too didn't recognise Malaysia's role in the agremeent for failing to mention Malaysia and PM Najib in all his statements and remarks about the event. He still wants to lucre from the deal.

What is PKR up to? To spoil the agreement by working with Nur Misuari? Then the agreement would fail the Mindanao will forever ravaged by civil war.

Anwar should stop his intention while Misuari should give the peace agreement a chance!
