Posted: 05 May 2014 09:39 PM PDT This is really a good wake up call for Esscom, Sabah State Government and of course, Putrajaya. We understand how delicate it is to manage the security along Sabah shore line but something must be done, especially in beefing up our task force in terms of additional personnel and better equipments. I heard this from few officers who visited Lahad Datu and Semporna recently: "Some of those appointed (to Esscom) were busy looking for contracts, sir.... supplies, construction, etc..." Really? No wonder it leads to complacency! Barely 24-hours after pirates robbed fishermen in the waters off Tanjung Labuan, a Chinese national is believed to have been kidnapped from a fish farm in Lahad Datu's Silam, Sabah. When security really matters, I believe our two key ministers should work hand in hand - Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Defense Minister Hishammuddin Tun Hussein. All agencies under them should work cohesively to ensure that eastern Sabah's security is under our total control and not become a subject of 'testing ground' for pirates and intruders from other countries. Malu la! KOTA KINABALU (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - A Chinese national is believed to have been kidnapped from a fish farm in Lahad Datu's Silam in Sabah, hardly 24-hours after pirates robbed fishermen in waters off Tanjung Labian. Unofficial reports claimed that gunmen had grabbed the Chinese national identified as Yang Zailin, who is a manager of Wonderful Terrace Sdn Bhd, a company operating a fish farm in the area at about 2.45am on Tuesday. No further details were available as senior police and Esscom officials were at the scene and conducting follow up operations. It is believed that the gunmen had fled towards the southern Philippines. - See more at: http://www.straitstimes.com/news/asia/south-east-asia/story/another-chinese-national-kidnapped-sabah-reports-20140506#sthash.qWFJSnVx.dpuf |
