Larry Hagman dies

I remember watching the soap Dallas during the late 1970s, envious enough of the rich oil kingpin JR Ewing role played by actor Larry Hagman.

He was a 'darling' then because our kampung just had its electricity supply from Lembaga Letrik Negara (LLN, now TNB). Other classics on RTM were High Chapparal, Peyton Place and The Sullivans.

I am one of Hagman's million fans. Those who watched Dallas will surely miss him. He died yesterday at the age of 81.

He was such a great actor... to me.
Tributes were flooding in from around the world today following the death of Dallas star Larry Hagman.

The actor, who became internationally known as villainous patriarch JR Ewing in the TV soap, died in hospital in Dallas, Texas, his family said.


Hagman's long-time friend Linda Gray, who played his on-screen wife, Sue Ellen Ewing, was reportedly by his bedside when he died.

Hagman, who had suffered from cancer and liver disease, had been filming the next series of 'Dallas' following the show's relaunch earlier this year.

His death will now be written in to the soap's storyline, Channel 5 said.

"Larry was back in his beloved 'Dallas' re-enacting the iconic role he loved most," his family said in a statement carried by the Dallas Morning News...
