Posted: 01 Jun 2013 07:25 AM PDT Update: Musa Aman says Nurul was stopped for Sabah's peace and security I am not defending Nurul Izzah. Her 'deportation' from Sabah the other day was the prerogative right of the Chief Minister, and I believe it was done on legal basis, based on Sabah Constitution and its immigration law. However, as a Malaysian, I think the 'too downright explanation' given by Sabah Kini is making some of us, especially us in 'Malaya' a bit hurt. Some of the definitions used to answer Nurul are reaching deep into the hearts of 'rakyat Malaya di Semenanjung'. Maaf, bah. I don't quite understand the double standard in defining between a 'Malaysian', 'Sabahan' or 'Sarawakian'. Does it mean Malaysians from 'Malaya' have to apply special permission to enter Sabah as tourists or non-political engagement? I believe PM Najib and Home Minister Zahid Hamid will have to zoom in into this issue as the 'individu milik negeri Sabah' does not augur well for our 1Malaysia concept. If it applies to Nurul, means it also apply to all Malaysiains from 'Malaya'. I think there are more Sabahans in 'Malaya' than the 'Malayans' in Sabah, and any Sabahan who comes to any part of the Semanjung is not subjected to any immigration law as their Mykad is the valid proof that they are Malaysiains who are free to go to any part of the country. I don't know as to whether the writer was 'emotionalised' by Nurul's issue but such an 'open revealing' could have been measured before it goes to print. I also believe our immigration law that requires those from 'Malaya' to fill up special form before arriving in Sabah and Sarawak should be reviewed and, possibly abolished. Again, it applies to all people of 'Malaya'. I have been to Sabah many times without having to 'apply' for my stay or visit there. I am not sure if 'orang Malaya' likes being treated as aliens in Sabah and Sarawak because such a segregation is not healthy for national unity. However, I like this one: But Sabah is beautiful! |
