| Hudud: DAP should abandon Pakatan Rakyat! Posted: 01 May 2013 09:27 PM PDT To DAP, please state clearly your stand on 'hudud' or quit Pakatan Rakyat, if you dare! With only three days to go till polling day, all DAP leaders should come clean and make clear their stand on hudud. There is no two ways about it. Either they are for it or against it. The absolute deafening silence on the issue by DAP leaders and the obvious exclusion of hudud in the Pakatan manifesto will allow "room play" for the PAS tai kor to go ahead with their Islamists policies. Already it is very clear that leaders from PAS are adamant in bulldozing through, with or without the DAP's support.Read Stop The Lies... |
| Posted: 01 May 2013 08:18 AM PDT About 4,000 families will face eviction when the Federal Government implements a plan to build 9,999 homes in three areas in Penang, namely Air Putih, Air Itam and Paya Terubong, says Lim Guan Eng. Eviction? What a stupid political response! Lim actually knows the three areas are in dire need of a systematic housing scheme as most of them are 'former' squatters who built their houses on TOL areas provided by Barisan Nasional government about 30 years ago. The DAP sec-gen is also aware that the housing plan announced by PM Najib Tun Razak yesterday will uplift the standard of living for the 4,000 families as proper amenities will also be built like roads, a sports centre and commercial lots. Well, DAP made the promised during its 12th general election campaigns in 2008 but failed to deliver it as Lim's state government was more concern in building his 'mega' RM6.3 billion 'Lim Guan Eng Tunnel' which will links the island to the mainland. What petrifies Lim - apart from the three areas belong to DAP - is the fact that Air Putih seat is his! So, what else could Lim do to cover his failure to the constituents? He badmouths the BN project, calling it an effort to evict the 4,000 families - almost 95 per cent are Chinese - and bring in more Malays to the new housing project. Bull! Lim himself realises that the project will be carried out just like any other housing areas in Penang and throughout Malaysia. Those affected will be shifted temporarily to another area until their homes are completed. Compensation and other cost will be born by the government and the contractor without any family having to fork it out from their own pocket. When the government builds new roads and highways, all residents affected by such projects are compensated accordingly; should any of their land is involved, the government pays according to the market price. So, Lim's allegation that the 4,000 families will be evicted is purely a political gimmick to frighten them, especially the voters. However, he forgets the fact that the people are not as stupid as him. They welcome the announcement as something that would improve their quality of life. Unlike the 'Lim Guan Eng Tunnel' dubbed as unnecessary by many, the people of Penang need houses more than anything else. With two bridges already linking the island to the mainland (and an efficient ferry service), the tunnel is a result of a collapsed brain! |
