Carr to Anwar: "Sorry... we won't help you!" Posted: 21 Nov 2012 07:34 AM PST Australian Foreign Minister Bob Carr said during an interview with The World Today that Australia will not interfere with the election system in Malaysia, and that Anwar Ibrahim's request for Canberra to 'help him' had to be turned down. A smart minister, and a wise Australia! Excerpts of the interview: "Well the Malaysian elections are a matter for the Malaysian people. It's very hard for Australia to do anything about how they're run, as hard as it would be for Malaysia or another government to have a say in how Australian elections are run. We're not the election authority for Malaysia...So, whose help will Pakatan Rakyat has to sought after this? The US? United Nations? Singapore... or Israel? Not sure if Anwar feels dejected or frustrated with Carr's reaction but Malaysia too, on record, has never interfered with election in other countries unless we are asked to send observers. The Election Commission is and has done its best to clean up the electoral system but PR seems to not recognising it. I guess they are only satisfied that the polls were free of fraud in Kelantan, Selangor, Penang and Kedah! |
