Latheefa KO - Confirms Demo-kasi Dead In Pakatan

Posted: 17 Jul 2012 01:29 AM PDT

Folks, kan saya dah kata berkali-kali and berulang kali that democracy is dead in the Pakatan Rakyat.

First of all you have the intensive nepotism - the Father and son teams monopolising the party for five decades, the family members (father, mother, daughter) holding the reins of the other party,  the Ketua Umums and Murshitul Am by appointment and not by election.

And how do they manage dissension ? They sack people. They get rid of them. There is a very long list of Pakatan people who have been kicked out from one place or another. The latest "victim" of this type of politics is Latheefa Koya - the PKR info chief and council woman for Petaling Jaya. She just quit from her post yesterday, to pre-empt her being sacked by MB Khalid Ibrahim who has developed an intense dislike for Latheefa.

While searching news reports about Latheefa quitting, I found this other old 2009 news item which has a letter written by Latheefa to Malaysiakini. Latheefa protests to Malaysiakini to stop speculating about people leaving her party which casts PKR in an "undeserved bad light". Here is Latheefa to Malaysiakini in 2009 :

  • Dear Editor,

  • I wish to bring to your attention a couple of Malaysiakini news pieces that of late have placed Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) in underserved bad light due to alleged accounts of in-fighting and dissensions within the party that have depended largely on unnamed so called "insider sources/ accounts."

  • Two recent reports come to mind "Sabah chief throws 'tantrums' at PKR meet" (15 October 2009) which I have already clarified with a press statement; and now the latest report "PKR sec-gen denies quit rumours" (27 October 2009)

  • As far as the party leadership is concerned, it has not received any resignation letter and Salehuddin Hashim remains PKR's secretary-general. But the damage has been done: another report on in-fighting and dissensions in PKR.

Oops. Too late. Salehuddin Hashim already quit PKR over the Talam scandal. Folks that was way back in 2009.  Now Latheefa herself has quit as a council member of the Majlis Bandaran PJ. I think her career in PKR Selangor has also gone kaput. There is no way Khalid Ibrahim is going to OK Latheefa to contest any seat in Selangor. She may as well quit the party too.

From Free Malaysia Today :

  • Monday, 16 July 2012
  • My position has become untenable after internal e-mail to Selangor MB Khalid Ibrahim went public, says PKR information chief.
  • Petaling Jaya city councillor Latheefa Koya resigned her position effective immediately.
  • In a letter dated today, Latheefa said that her position was untenable since Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim and the state exco are mulling her sacking.
  • Speculations that Latheefa would be booted has been rife since last week after allegations that she had criticised the PKR led state administration.
  • On Friday, Khalid had confirmed that he and his exco were mulling her sacking. However, he said no decision was arrived at.

More news from here

Councilor Latheefa Koya Resigns from MBPJ
  • PKR legal advisor Latheefa Koya has tendered her resignation ..ahead of speculations that the state exco is planning to sack her.
  • the exco was discussing her removal over her criticisms of the state administration over housing issues.
  • "I refer to an internal email regarding my concern on housing for the poor, which I have sent to you (Khalid) and other top party leaders recently.
  • "As a consequence I understand that you and the exco are mulling over my sacking as a councilor in MBPJ," the letter read.
  •  last week Free Malaysia Today reported sources indicating that it was Khalid himself who had tabled the proposal to axe her.
  • .according to its sources, Khalid's motion was seconded by Sri Andalas state assemblymen Xavier Jayakumar
  • "It was not a hard decision for them to make," said one source as cited by Free Malaysia Today.
  • It all started with a letter sent by Latheefa sometime ago to the Menteri Besar, criticizing his administration."
  • "She had, on numerous occasion, questioned why the state government was bending over backwards for squatters in several areas. The SMSes were also sent to Anwar and other top PKR leaders."

Latheefa Koya is actually in a similar position to Teoh Beng Hock. The only difference is Beng Hock left the building unconventionally. Latheefa is finding out that her political heroes are not what she expected them to be. They wanted to sack her.

She wanted housing for the poor, feed the stray cats, care for the sick and stuff. Teoh Beng Hock wanted the same thing too. It is called idealism. Others call it being naieve. Both Latheefa (and Beng Hock) realised that there is another factor that overides all - money. Ini semua duit punya pasal.

The revelations about the Talam scandal have not fully sunk in yet. Pakatan supporters must ask why a piece of land bought for RM43 million was auctioned off five months later for RM15 - at a loss of RM28 million?  This is why the PKR Secretary General Sallehudin Hashim resigned in 2009 which triggered Latheefa's protest letter to M'siakini above. (Padan muka lah - nak kata apa lagi).

This is how they resolve their differences - they sack people, they place gag orders on their people, they ban newspapers from covering their State events and stuff.  This is their version of democracy.

Talam dua muka, peliwat bersiri, penzina bersiri, penggoda wanita, berlakon dalam bilik air, duit rakyat hilang all this and more. And they have not gone to Putrajaya yet.

By the way here is some information for Latheefa Koya. It boils down to this "Dia ini siapa?" The rest is racial. Serves you right.

Among The Best Reader's Comment

The following comment was sent just this morning to my earlier post "Sedition Act Versus The ISA Versus Others". Most of you will not see it at all so I decided to post the comment here.

The commenter asks what is the use of being a 'negara Islam'.  I think it is one of the best comments I have read this year. I am so glad that there are Malaysians who have such a level head on their shoulders.  Thank you to Anti Jadi Bodoh.

Tuan Syed,

Yang penting, apa dengan nak jadi negara Islam, apa dia yang kita akan dapat at the end of the day...

Suruh depa tinggal 3 bulan. Biar dia tau langit tinggi rendah..

Mr Prime Minister The Polls Are In.

Posted: 16 Jul 2012 06:59 PM PDT

Ok folks, I think the survey on Hishamuddin Hussein is coming to an end. I put up the Poll three days ago. So far at the time of writing this, 439 of you have responded. Thank you for taking the time to vote.  Here are the results :

DO YOU THINK HISHAMUDDIN HUSSEIN IS FIT TO BE MINISTER OF HOME AFFAIRS?

He is not fit to be Minister of Home Affairs
  82 (18%)
He is not fit to be Minister of anything
  266 (60%)
He is fit to be Minister of Home Affairs
  17 (3%)
He should try cross dressing
  74 (16%)

Change your vote
Votes so far: 439
Days left to vote: 1

Out of a total 439 votes, 422 of you or a staggering 97% have given Hisham the thumbs down.

The largest number of votes (266 votes or 60%) said that Hishamuddin is not fit to be Minister of anything.

A sizeable number, 74 of you or 15%, chose the option telling Hishamuddin to try cross dressing.  I just included this curve ball because I knew there is a substantial category of people who are beyond fed up with Hisham.  Hence this option.

17 brave souls have voted yes to Hisham. I think Hisham would like to extend many thanks to himself, his KSU, his SUSK, his Set Pol, his media team, his Indon maids, the driver and the office team for the 17 votes.

The 60% (266 votes) saying he is not fit to be Minister of anything was unexpected. I was surprised as well. I think the majority of my Blog readers are still BN supporters with a sizeable number of Pakatan folks here as well (thank you folks, all of you.  BN ke, Pakatan ke we are all in the same boat).   So I think the votes here present a general consensus.

Last nite, some Bloggers asked 'if not Hishamuddin then which other Cabinet member can be Home Minister?' There was no answer. No one could suggest a replacement. One person said how about Tun Dr Mahathir? I suggested Syed Hamid Albar. (Well at least he made a decision).

The PM had better take note.  Still winnable candidates ke?

Now the PM and his cousin will have to sit down and find a really, really safe seat for Hisham where there is little Internet connection and where people are least likely to read the Blogs.

Even in Sembrong people are becoming Net savvy. The same goes for Kota Tinggi.  I think the safer seat for Hisham now will be Cenderawasih. Here is the map location. You can see Teluk Cenderawasih smack in the middle between the words Irian Jaya and Pacific Ocean.
