Najib signs Election Integrity Pledge: does Anwar dare?

To the opposition, what's your next plan to dispute our electoral system. You wanted it clean, Barisan Nasional - that had never engaged a dirty trick to win any national poll or by-elections - has paved the way for a much cleaner polls, something that Anwar or Ambiga never expected.

Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak is a man of honor. Despite all the street demo and ugly parades the opposition organised for a 'free and clean election', they ended shooting at their own foot when PM yesterday signed Transparency International's Election Integrity Pledge.

It didn't stop there.

Pakatan Rakyat can be rest assured that all BN candidates for the upcoming general election will also sign the Pledge.

It was a daring move by any head of state. Perhaps, Malaysia is the country to do so. Even the developed countries that boast of practicing the 'cleanest and most transparent' electoral system, will not dare to sign one.

And I personally believe Transparency International - an international anti-corruption NGO that promotes transparency and accountability - did not expect the Prime Minister to sign it as it joins other world and Malaysian NGOs in condemning our political system.

So, Transparency International could at least sigh in relief and start telling Anwar, Ambiga, Mat Sabu, Nik Aziz, Karpal, Kit Siang and others to stop 'barking around' and support such a decision by Najib.

Our elections had always been clean although the Election Commission did some minor errors but that has been corrected accordingly. PR accusation that the EC is bias was never substantiated.

By signing that Pledge, Barisan Nasional will not be involved in any vote rigging activities, among which are:

-  buying votes
-  moving voters to sensitive areas, unless the voters themselves want to shift
-  getting the dead to vote as alleged by the opposition

However, I believe Pakatan Rakyat will not say anything, let alone commend what PM did. Instead, they will keep on finding new faults to undermine it. As they promised, there will be a few more street demonstrations prior to general election.

But still, how could they demand for a clean polling if they themselves used to get someone born in 1884 to vote in Kelantan during the previous general election?
