| China Constitutional Amendment Adopts Quranic Values Posted: 14 Nov 2012 05:45 AM PST Much more important than the US elections, the 18th Congress of the Chinese Communist Party is ending today Wednesday, 14th November 2012. Tomorrow the Chinese will announce their new leadership which will be in place for the next 10 years (most likely). It is widely expected that retiring President and party General Secretary Hu Jintao will be replaced by Xi Jinping. Prime Minister Wen Jiabao will most likely be replaced Li Keqiang. The Chinese President and Prime Minister can serve a maximum of 10 years in office. The PM of China has responsibility over running the entire Government. However the PM has no authority over the Peoples' Liberation Army or PLA which reports to the Central Military Commission of the Communist Party. There will be a seamless transition of power and also a continuation of policies which will see China becoming the largest economic power in the world by 2022. The Chinese Communist Party has also made an important amendment to its Constitution. They have included a 'Scientific outlook towards development' as a Constitutional amendment. "Scientific outlook" may sound unimaginative or banal but there is a major reason why they want to write it down in their Constitution. Being socialists the Chinese do not believe in religion or the concept of "god". They rely on nothing except themselves. The Chinese have been relying heavily on science and technology since 1949. However the rapid economic development of China since 1989 may have blunted their focus. Environmental degradation, corruption and provincial interests are beginning to rear up in China. To focus more on a scientific outlook would mean doing exactly what is good for the people - minus religious influences, minus parochial interests, populist politics and other non scientific interferences. Doing what is right for all the people based on science, technology and good management. I think the Chinese have a clear cut idea exactly what they want to achieve with this re-emphasis on 'scientific outlook' on development. A scientific outlook - relying on science, knowledge and logic is entirely Quranic and hence also Islamic. I feel China will boom and bloom even more in the next decade. Along with the constitutional amendment they are also emphasising on the social and cultural development of the people. The 18th Congress of the CPC has also called for greater integration of China into the world economy. The Chinese are coming out. 19th century terminology like socialism and capitalism are also becoming antiquated in China. The Chinese say they want to reach an 'optimisation' of all affairs for the Chinese people. While the 18th CPC Congress was going on, the world's largest container vessel the brand new 153,000 tonne CMA Marco Polo has been put into service in China. The ship can carry an astounding 16,000 TEUs (containers) and has been built to serve the Chinese market. The vessel is French owned - not Chinese owned. It is larger than an aircraft carrier and requires a crew of less than 20 to man it. Obviously the French keep up with what is going on in China. Now after this 18th Congress of the CPC they will likely be launching even bigger container ships for the China market. |
