BN Pastikan Pembangkang Terima Pengajaran Jika Teruskan Agenda Kosongkan Kerusi Posted: 13 Mar 2014 08:49 AM PDT KAJANG, 13 Mac – Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin berkata Barisan Nasional (BN) akan memastikan pembangkang menerima pengajaran berguna sekiranya berhasrat meneruskan agenda mengosongkan kerusi dimenangi pada pilihan raya lalu demi keuntungan politik. |
Balingian By-Election, A Very Important By-Election For BN – Awang Tengah Posted: 13 Mar 2014 06:43 AM PDT MUKAH, March 13 – The Balingian state by-election is a very important one for the Barisan Nasional (BN), Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) party senior vice-president Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan said today. “A splendid win will allow the BN government to continue with its usual sterling leadership and development policies for the people’s benefits. “It will greatly allow all planned development projects to be carried out smoothly,” he said before presenting 530 land titles to 7,261 recipients from five traditional kampungs here. Awang Tengah, who is also Sarawak Second Minister of Resource Planning and Environment, said a win would also show the people were indeed grateful to former Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud for his many contributions. Taib, who is now the Head of State, had done much to help the people of Balingian when he was its state assemblyman, he said. On the other hand if the BN could retain the seat, he said, it would allow the new Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Haji Satem to continue with the government’s good policies for the people. When met by reporters later, Awang Tengah said although it was the general consensus that the BN would have no problem in retaining the Melanau majority seat, its supporters and workers must continue to work hard. “As a matter of fact we in the BN never take any election and by-election lightly. We cannot take things for granted and we should not be complacent,” he said, adding that the preparation on the ground was going as planned and BN was now quite well prepared. He said Balingian and Mukah were places of great economic potentials. “Mukah, for instance, is the administrative centre for the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (Score) with many economic activities, including energy intensive industries, being planned besides those in the agriculture and aquaculture sectors,” he said. He said Balingian also had huge reserves of coal and vast tracts of land. |
Statement Today By Acting Transport Minister Hishammuddin On The Missing MAS Plane Posted: 13 Mar 2014 04:14 AM PDT KUALA LUMPUR, March 13 – Following is the statement by Defence Minister and acting Transport Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein at a press briefing on the search for the missing flight, MH370, in Sepang, Selangor, today: "It is now six days since MH370 disappeared. There are currently 43 ships and 40 aircraft searching the South China Sea (26 ships and 25 aircraft) and the Strait of Melaka (17 ships and 15 aircraft). "We are grateful for the assistance from around the world. With every passing day, the task becomes more difficult. As always, our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those on the flight. We will spare nothing in our efforts to find MH370. "Before I take questions, I would like to clear up a few issues. Engine Data "I would like to refer to news reports suggesting that the aircraft may have continued flying for some time after the last contact. As Malaysia Airlines will confirm shortly, those reports are inaccurate. "The last transmission from the aircraft was at 0107 which indicated that everything was normal. Rolls Royce and Boeing teams are here in Kuala Lumpur and have worked with MAS and the investigations team since Sunday. This issue has never been raised. "Whenever there are new details, they must be corroborated. Since today's media reports, MAS has asked Rolls Royce and Boeing specifically about this data. As far as Rolls Royce and Boeing are concerned, those reports are inaccurate. "Chinese Satellite Imagery "A Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency surveillance plane was dispatched this morning to investigate potential debris shown on Chinese satellite images. "We deployed our assets but found nothing. We have contacted the Chinese embassy who notified us this afternoon that the images were released by mistake, and did not show any debris from MH370. FAA Directive "The aircraft had been fully serviced and was fit to fly according to engineering and maintenance records. All maintenance checks were in order. "The last routine maintenance service was conducted on 23 February 2014; the next service was due on 19 June. Radar Signal "It suggested that there was a possibility that an aircraft had passed over to the Strait of Melaka. We have a duty to investigate any possibility. We owe it to the families of those on the flight to follow up every lead. "On that basis, we dispatched extra ships and aircraft to search the area. However, our main effort has been in the South China Sea. "We are working very closely with FAA and the NTSB. On the issue of the possible air turn-back, they have indicated to us that based on the information and data given by the Malaysian authorities, the US team was of the view that there were reasonable grounds for the Malaysian authorities to deploy resources to conduct search on the western side of peninsular Malaysia. "Under the circumstances, it is appropriate to conduct a search if the evidence suggests there is a possibility of finding the missing aircraft. Raw Data "As I am sure you can understand, we would not ordinarily release raw data from our military radars. But in this case we have put the search effort above our national security. We have shared our data with our international partners, including the US and China, to help with the search effort. Police Investigation into Pilots "Reports suggesting that the Malaysian police searched the homes of the MH370 crew are not true, and the Royal Malaysian Police have issued a statement to that effect. Malaysia's Response "I want to touch on the question of Malaysia's response. First, this situation is unprecedented. MH370 went completely silent whilst over the open ocean. We are in the middle of a multinational search involving many countries and more than 80 ships and aircraft. "This is a crisis situation. It is a very complex operation, and it has not always been easy. We are devoting all our energies to the task at hand. And I want to be very clear: our focus has been on finding the aircraft. We have not done anything that could jeopardise the search effort. "There are times when we have not been able to reveal information – for example, some radar signals – because they require analysis and confirmation by other agencies before being released. To release such information before it was ready could have compromised the investigation or the search efforts – and added to the anguish of the relatives. "Malaysia has nothing to hide. We have spared no expense and no effort. From day one, we have been in regular contact with neighbouring countries, and accepted all international offers of help. We have followed protocols as stipulated by the International Civil Aviation Organisation since the incident began. "Much has been made about the extension of the search areas. Some claim that Malaysia has slowed down the search. That is not true. In fact, we have intensified the search. Again, let me be clear: there is no real precedent for a situation like this. The plane vanished. We extended the search area because it is our duty to follow every lead. We owe it to the families. And we will not give up." |
Malaysia Will Benefit From GST Posted: 13 Mar 2014 02:15 AM PDT TAWAU, March 13 – The Goods and Services Tax (GST) will benefit Malaysia, just like the 160 countries which have successfully implemented the system. Tawau Customs chief Yunos Tahir said the people should support and not reject GST which had been adopted by Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, China, Argentina, Australia and New Zealand. "GST is a tax system that benefits the people as it is more effective, customer friendly and can overcome weaknesses in the present system such as double taxation. "It can overcome the leakage of revenue from transfer pricing, improve tax compliance, reduce cost of doing business and reduce bureaucracy," he said at the GST Awareness Programme, here today. The government should be commended for exempting GST on agricultural products as it has positive impact on the people, especially the lower income group. Yunos said GST would also help the government to reduce the income tax and corporate tax rates which was confined to a particular group. The taxation system is one of the reform strategy in the new economic model introduced by the prime minister to increase the country's finances. The GST would be implemented on April 1, 2015. |

Isu Kualiti Guru Perlu Ditangani Untuk Capai Matlamat PPPM – Muhyiddin Posted: 13 Mar 2014 12:02 AM PDT TANJUNG MALIM, 13 Mac – Isu kualiti guru perlu ditangani sekiranya matlamat Pelan Pembangunan Pendidikan Malaysia (PPPM) yang meletakkan sasaran negara berada dalam kelompok satu pertiga teratas sistem pendidikan terbaik dunia ingin dicapai, kata Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin. Timbalan perdana menteri berkata bagi menyokong hasrat itu, Kementerian Pendidikan meluluskan peruntukan RM5 juta kepada Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) di bawah Skim Geran Penyelidikan NIC yang bertajuk ‘Development of a Teacher Education Model for Preparing Quality Teachers for the Future’. |
MACC : Implementation Of Protection Act Proves Fruitful Posted: 12 Mar 2014 11:57 PM PDT KUALA LUMPUR, March 13 – The implementation of the Whistleblower Protection Act 2010 (Act 711) and Witness Protection Act 2009 (Act 696) has shown positive impact, says the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). Director Agency Integrity Management Division Norazlan Mohd Razali said there was now increased awareness among the public to report offers of bribes to the MACC. “People are confident of making a report as protection is given under the law to persons who lodge a report on corruption matters through the Whistleblower Protection Act 2010 (Act 711) and Witness Protection Act 2009 (Act 696),” he said at a forum on ‘Business and Anti-Corruption in Asean’ organized by the Asean CSR Network here today. Last year, MACC arrested 339 persons from the private sector and 170 persons from the public sector. In 2012, 413 persons from the private sector and 288 persons from the public sector were arrested. Norazlan said as Malaysia embarked on a more global environment and was moving towards the formation of an integrated Asean Community in 2015, businesses have more needs now than ever to have a strong internal control as well as governance which complied with international standards and various foreign legislations. Businesses should also have sufficient internal auditing controls to assist in the prevention and detection of corruption. The introduction of the Corporate Integrity Pledge (CIP) would likely create an effective system to increase integrity in the Malaysian corporate sector, through practicing good governance, including anti-corruption measures, he said. As of yesterday, a total of 397 entities, comprising private limited companies, government linked companies, multinational companies, small-and-medium enterprises, non-governmental organisations, government departments and professional bodies have signed up for the CIP. |
