Another John Malott

Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim wrote on his blog:
I have been receiving calls from the Turkish Prime Minister, Mr Recep Tayyip Erdogan; the Governor of Bangkok, Mr Sukumbhan Paribatra; former President of Indonesia, Mr Jusuf Habibie and renowned Islamic Scholar, Dr Yusul al-Qaradawi since the Appeal Court judgment on the 7th of March. They have all expressed grave concerns over the manner on how the case was rushed and the subsequent ruling.
I was also visited by the American Ambassador to Malaysia, Mr Joseph Yun and his political officers at my residence on the 9th of March who have also express similar concerns. They have committed to convey these to President Obama soon.
It is a well-known fact that Anwar gets foreign support and attention. He likes it, proud that some international figures are with him.

Whether he was in or out of jail, he has been enjoying such a leverage.

Erdogan and Habibie, being his close allies and staunch political supporters, are always with him. Despite meeting PM Najib for diplomatic purposes recently, his heart is still with Anwar while Habibie harbors a personal agenda by being chummy with him.

However, my attention was drawn to the US ambassador to Malaysia Joseph Yun (pic left), who visited Anwar yesterday.

His motive is clear - that he supports Anwar and the Opposition. It was not wrong but diplomatically, he hurts US-Malaysia relation by showing his blase towards the Court of Appeal verdict on Anwar Ibrahim.

He will become another John Malott (pic, left), the former US ambassador to Malaysia who broke all diplomatic norms by hitting hard at the Malaysian government, the judiciary and the people.

Go back and tell Barack Obama about Anwar. Also, don't fail to remind the President of the mistreatment on the Guantanamo detainees, your atrocity in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Palestine, and how your foreign policy doesn't blend with almost all members of the United Nations.

Being the Mother of Democracy doesn't allow you to meddle with others' administration and judiciary when yours too are below par!
