| Expel him! Posted: 18 Sep 2013 09:28 PM PDT Indefinite suspension! What is that? This young man thinks he is somebody for the whole nation, especially the Malays, to respect. He thinks he is already at a level to confront and tell the leadership what is right and wrong. A student he is! And his duty is to study, complete it, get his scroll and make his family proud. Find a good job before telling others what to eat and where to sleep. If I am the Education Minister, I would have expelled him right away! Let the precedent be set. You play soft, you will get more of this moron! PETALING JAYA: Student activist Adam Adli has been suspended from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) indefinitely, extending his three-semester suspension imposed on him in 2012 until the conclusion of his on-going sedition case. In a statement, Adam said he received a letter dated Sept 6, signed by the university's vice-chancellor Professor Datuk Zakaria Kasa, stating he was suspended indefinitely because of his on-going sedition trial. Adam, 23, said the suspension was with immediate effect and would end after the completion of his court case. "It is quite clear that this suspension is politically-motivated. It was done without following the law where punishment would only be taken after a show-cause letter, investigation and an internal inquiry has been completed. "One letter shouldn't be able to suspend a student," he said. The third-year student was initially suspended in January last year for taking down the flag with Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak's image and replacing it with a flag bearing the words "Kebebasan Akademik" (Academic Freedom) outside Umno headquarters in Kuala Lumpur in Dec 2011. In May, Adam was charged under the sedition act for statements he made during a May 13 forum held at the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall. "When students are active in social and political activities, the government tells them to focus on their studies. But now they are stopping me from studying," he said. He said he would discuss his next move with his lawyers. "If UPSI really doesn't want me back, I will take other initiatives for my tertiary education. I declined other overseas opportunities because I wanted to complete my studies in UPSI. "But now, I might consider other options if there is no solution," he said. You make him a celebrity like Namewee, we will get more shit after this! Just mark my words! |
| Hisham is right! Posted: 18 Sep 2013 10:24 AM PDT Foreign rating agencies, international surveys and findings are not always right. Some surveys did not go in-depth while others are only based on insufficient information. In some cases, such findings carry hidden agendas. When Western agencies conduct survey on developing nations, they always have the tendency to belittle them. Here is where Defense Minister Hishammuddin Tun Hussein is right, very right about the Transparency International UK Defense and Security Programme (DSP) report about corruption at our security personnel. Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein is unapologetic about the country being deemed "high risk" for corruption in the defence ministry or armed forces as claimed by an international watchdog. "Have you asked the Singapore defence minister? We are on the same ranking with them. What would their reply be?" said Hishammuddin in a press conference after chairing a steering committee meeting on the Automated Enforcement System today. He said this in reference to the report by Transparency International UK Defence and Security Programme (DSP), which stated that Malaysia is one of 21 countries at "high risk" of corruption in the defence ministry or armed forces due to weak legislative scrutiny. theSun highlighted the report which also stated that Malaysia was one of 55 countries that have failed to exercise sufficient control over their defence ministry and their armed forces. Other countries sharing the "high risk" rating with Malaysia include Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, Iraq, Singapore and China, a result described as "shocking" by Transparency International UK's DSP director Mark Pyman. Hishammuddin said he is aware of the report but added that he needs to study the terms used in it. He said Malaysia wants to benchmark itself internationally but added that national security will not be compromised in the process. "If it is a question of transparency which will affect national security, then I give no apologies. "I am not being apologetic if that affects our transparency index," he said. Hishammuddin said his ministry will look at the report further and study the areas which can be addressed. Transparency International was never fair in its reporting about Malaysia. They are always on the opposition side, supporting the anti-government NGOs' especially in matters pertaining to LGBT, general election and Bersih. So, Hisham has every reason to rubbish such a report by TI. In fact, we should too. What a watchdog TI is! |
