Sighting The Moon Posted: 16 Jul 2012 01:29 AM PDT 1. What is the Biblical  "New Moon"? Famed educator, scholar and calendar expert, Arthur Spier tells us,  "In the early times of our history . . . [the] beginnings of the months  were determined by direct observation of the new moon.  Then those  beginnings of the months (Rosh Hodesh) were sanctified and announced  by the Sanhedrin, the Supreme Court in Jerusalem, after witnesses had  testified that they had seen the new crescent and after their testimony had   been thoroughly examined, confirmed by calculation, and duly acceptedî (The Comprehensive Hebrew Calendar, p.1).    Says Arthur Spier:  This method of observation and intercalation was in use throughout the period of the second temple (516 B.C.E. -- 70 C.E.), and about three centuries after its destruction, as long as there was an independent Sanhedrin 2. The Jewish Month By Chaim Issacson One of the first commandments that was given to the Jews, even before they left Egypt, was to fix the calendar to observe the month of the Passover in the appointed time, the spring. Thus, the requirement of having a monthly calendar that is adjusted to meet the solar cycle is a Biblical injunction. The Jewish month is based on the seeing the new moon. When two persons saw the new moon they would come to the Sanhedrin (Jewish Court) and give testimony that they saw the moon.  The court would question the witnesses to ascertain that they indeed did see the moon. Afterwards, the court proclaimed that a new month had begun. Even if the court knew by its own calculations that the new moon was scheduled to appear on a certain day, but due to weather conditions it was not seen, they did not declare the new moon until the next day when witnesses arrived. It was conceivable that the new month would be delayed a day.  3.  This page contains reports of actual New Moon sightings from Israel and is updated every month. The Biblical month begins with the Crescent New Moon, or First Visible Sliver, seen from Israel. Proclaiming the Name on Yom Kippur Back on Thursday September 9, 2010 we looked for the new moon but as previously reported the moon was not sighted anywhere in Israel on that evening, and was only visible the following evening on Friday September 10. During the attempted sighting on Thursday September 9, the night the moon was not visible,  As was stated previously, the Moon was not seen from Israel last Thursday 9th September 2010. However, upon analyzing Nehemia Gordon's photographs from Mt. Hezkiyahu an image of the Moon appeared exactly in the expected place and orientation.   My comments : Again this is yet another example of the practise of the Jews or the "sunnah of the Jews".   The Jews believed in sighting the new moon by eyesight. They made a very big thing about it. According to the clip from the article above, this was a method by which the Jews  preserved their Jewish culture and beliefs - especially after the destruction of their second temple.  Later in the Jewish Diaspora throughout the world they were able to keep alive their Jewish identity by upholding events like this 'sighting the new moon', even when it became unnecessary. To sight the new moon, the Jews had two males of good character going to high places (usually hilltops) to observe the sliver of the new moon. After sighting or not sighting, the two men would then report to the Sanhedrin (the council of Jewish religious elders). If the sighting was accepted, then the Sanhedrin would announce to the people the beginning of a new month, new year etc. What does the Quran say about the moon, sun etc? The Quran does not say anything at all about two men or any number of people sighting the moon by eyesight to determine the beginning of the new month or the beginning of the new year. There is no such thing in the Quran. There are many verses in the Quran about the moon and sun. Here are just a few. Surah 55:5 'The sun and moon perfectly calculated' (al shamsu wal qamaru bi husbaanin) This refers to the fact that the sun and the moon traverse a perfectly calculated path. The word 'husbaanin' (calculate) is rooted in the word 'hisaab' which means to count. (Ilmu Hisab = Mathematics) Surah 39:5 "He created the heavens and the earth truthfully. He rolls the night over the day, and rolls the day over the night. He committed the sun and the moon, each running for a finite period. Absolutely, He is the Almighty, the Forgiving." Surah 36:40 'The sun is never to catch up with the moon - the night and the day never deviate - each of them is floating in its own orbit.' Again the sun and the moon are locked in their traverse. One cannot "catch up" or "overtake" the other. Hence the sun and the moon can be used to CALCULATE time. The next verse says so: Surah 6:96 "At the crack of dawn, He causes the morning to emerge. He made the night still, and He rendered the sun and the moon to serve as calculation devices (wal-shamsa wal-qamara husbanan). Such is the design of the Almighty, the Omniscient." Because of these facts, the rocket scientists  are able to calculate exactly where and when to shoot their rockets into space. Whether the sky is cloudy, whether it is raining or clear sky, they know exactly where the moon will be at any time now or in the future.  Why? Because the traverse of the moon, the sun and the planets are all fixed. There is no need for guesswork or observing by eyesight. Using science and mathematics the human being can calculate the orbits of the sun, moon, the planet Mars and everything else in the sky. Yesterday's news says the Indians are going to launch a rocket and satellite to study the planet Mars. Here is the news : "Bangalore: India's mission to the red planet, Mars, will be launched next year, ahead of the mission to study the sun which was earlier scheduled to kick off in 2013. Delays in getting the instrumentation ready for the sun mission on board the satellite Aditya-1, under the aegis of Bangalore-based Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA), and Mars coming close to Earth over the next two years has led to the change in the space schedule, experts have said." Imagine if the Indians had to determine the location of the planet Mars by eye observation only. They would never be able to hit Mars. Their rocket may fall behind Encik Ali's house. Everything has been perfectly calculated. That is why we must use our intelligence and common sense to figure out scientifically how things work.   Even the modern Jews do not seriously follow the practises or the sunnah of the ancient Jews.

Part 2 - British Stories Posted: 15 Jul 2012 07:52 PM PDT Yesterday I wrote "British Stories" which spoke a little about how the Brits conspired in Egypt and Sudan which landed them the Suez Canal and control over the Middle East and the sea route to India and Asia for almost 100 years.   This is Part 2. This is happening now. The target here is Iran.  I think Iran is about to go bonkers. First here is the news : 1. Iran will be nuclear armed by 2014: UK intelligence In a rare public speech, MI6 boss John Sawers told a meeting of around 100 senior civil servants in London that British agents had foiled Iran's attempts to produce a nuclear weapon as long as four years ago, according to the Telegraph. "You'd have Iran as a nuclear weapons state in 2008 rather than still being two years away in 2012," the report quoted Sawers  "I think it will be very tough for any prime minister of Israel or president of the United States to accept a nuclear-armed Iran," he suggested. 2.  UK spy chief's Iran warning may go too far: analysts "At the moment, Iran has enough low-enriched uranium for four or five bombs if further enriched,"  ..one purpose of Sawers's speech appeared to be to send a message to both Iran and Israel. "To Israel he is saying: 'they do not have them (weapons). Do not stop them, give us time. To Iran he is saying: 'we know what you're doing'. He is trying to make Iran nervous," Lewis said. "He is also issuing a warning to the rest of us that Israel may be prepared to act if they think they have only got until 2014." This is an extremely rare public speech by John Sawyers the Chief of MI6 - Britains external security services. The British secret service is par excellence, even eclipsing the Israeli Mossad. The timing and the carefully worded nature of Sawyer's comments, particularly referring the dates 2012 and 2014 are quite deliberate. Analysts say that the information may not be accurate because the IAEA inspectors  (Int'l Atomic Energy Agency) do not concur with such a conclusion. I believe the CIA has also stated that the Iranians are far away from a fully assembled bomb. However the British may have reason for saying this. There is no doubt that Iran has extensive nuclear research facilities. The thing I notice about the Mat Salleh is that they are able to predict how the Asian people will react, especially the Muslims. The Muslims are so easily predictable. You can actually goad them into doing things without them even realising it. And true to form how have the Iranians reacted to all this bluster? Here it is : "Iran is prepared to launch missiles at US bases throughout the Gulf within minutes of an attack on the Islamic Republic, according to a commander of the country's Revolutionary Guards. In an apparent response to reports that the US has increased its military presence in the Gulf, the commander of the Revolutionary Guards' air force said on Wednesdaythat missiles had been aimed at 35 US military bases in the Gulf as well as targets in Israel, ready to be launched in case of an attack." Well what do you expect them to say when the Great Satan is also scheming and plotting against them. Folks, if they attack Iran, it will be a considerable amount of annihilation. Because they must quite permanently destroy the Iranian capacity to regroup and reorganise their nuclear industry.  I believe it will not be one strike but a number of strikes perhaps over a period of time. First they will take out the offensive missiles, the Iranian air defences and the air force quite simultaneously. Then they will wipe out the nuclear facilities.  And watch this space : the US, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Yusuf Qardawi and Egypt will all cooperate to annihilate Iran. This is because of the Shiah versus Sunni hatreds.  I told you folks - the Muslims are so predictable. They can be easily manipulated by the Mat Salleh. Over what? Well in this case, and as is often the case,  over "my imaginary pet unicorn is better than your imaginary pet unicorn".
