Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the books contain elements that can threaten public order and morality. The directive, enforced on January 6 and January 9, was according to Section 7(1) of the Printing Presses and Publications Act 1984. "According to Section 8 subsection 2, it is an offence to print, import, produce, reproduce, publish, sell, issue, circulate, offer for sale, distribute or have in his possession for such purpose any prohibited publication," he said in a statement today. Those convicted of this offence face imprisonment for a term not exceeding three years or to a fine not exceeding twenty thousand ringgit, or both. I am actually more alarmed at the fact that the books were translated by the UIA Islamic Studies Group. Are they still with the university or riding on its name to dodge the authority and the people with such books. My suggestion to KDN - please investigate the people behind it and their motive. I also believe there are more books, especially those imported, should be banned for good. They come in many languages. A thorough checking, perhaps? We must go deep inside...

How should we describe him? 'Kurang ajar' or what? But it doesn't matter. Its all taking place in PKR, notably in Selangor. Just let them! Read: KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 31 — Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim is not a "skilled" enough politician to handle Barisan Nasional's (BN) political onslaught, PKR's Rafizi Ramli said last night as he defended his party's decision to field Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in the coming Kajang by-election. Speaking at a forum here, the chief engineer of the Kajang move said that while the embattled Khalid is known to be a popular technocrat, he was less stellar in his role as a politician. "We all know in Pakatan Rakyat (PR), attacks based on racial politics and religion must be countered with political games as well," the PKR strategic director told a forum discussing the by-election here. "Although we have high respect for his administrative prowess, we have to also call a spade a spade: Khalid is not a skilled and experienced politician to face Umno's racial and religious political games." According to the Pandan MP, PKR had decided to give Anwar a shot at snapping a seat on the Selangor legislative assembly to send a message to BN that it is serious in defending the state seen as PR' crown jewel. In a statement on Wednesday, Rafizi had claimed there are plans in the pipeline by Umno and BN to use racial and religious issues to cripple the PR administration in Selangor, which is now led by Khalid. Its a 'Melayu against another Melayu'. In conservative Malays, a 'boy' like Rafizi will be labeled as insolent for 'trying to teach a bird how to fly'. Someone would easily tell Rafizi to 'fly kite' instead for his remarks about Khalid. But as the Malay saying goes, 'kecil jangan disangka anak, besar jangan disangka bapak', Rafizi has the right to say anything he wants about his leaders and party. In fact, we can find more and more people like him in Umno!
