Lahad Datu standoff: What are we waiting for? Posted: 28 Feb 2013 08:22 PM PST UPDATE, FRIDAY 12pm: Radio Sabah reports, our army and the intruders were trading fire since two hours ago, and that some bodies were seen being carried out from the area Malaysian security forces clashed with members of the Sulu sltanate's "royal army" Friday as they moved in to forcibly haul the "invaders" off Lahad Datu, a Sabah-based radio station said in its short wave broadcast monitored here. The station said its reporter was stationed near Felda 17, the seaside village where Agbimuddin Kiram and his armed followers of about 180 had been encamped since February 12. Now they are the ones who fired warning shots at us! Who are the intruders, us or the Kiram Sulu followers occupying a village in Lahad Datu, Sabah? This Sultan Kiram is now on Manila's wanted list for what he did but Kiram instead warned Manila not to meddle in his affairs and demanded Kuala Lumpur for a dialogue when his claim on Sabah, OUR LEGITIMATE TERRITORY, stays! So, what is there to discuss? They are a lot of uncivilised people who went against all international law and convention, putting up a demand that could heavily cost Malaysia's good relations with the Philippines. Come on, Hisham, Zahid and Anifah. Time's up! No more extension to demands for 'rooms for negotiation'. They toyed around with our patience and integrity, snubbing at their own President at Malacanang and refused to leave or surrender. These people are terrorists! If they know their rights, they must recognise others' too. Not only had they breached our immigration law but also our security line by bringing in guns and ammo of all sorts. Had we shot them before they landed on our beach, would it be wrong? Now, they are taking advantage of our patience and 'goodwill' by prolonging the conflict. What is our final stand here? The 3-week standoff is already putting us as the 'hooligans' to Philippines media, with reports that the drama is taking its toll on Filipinos working in Sabah, that many employers are already sacking them over the Lahad Datu issue. But nobody is defending us or rebutting such stories! 'Susah-susah', just let them stay! |
