MAS Fiasco : Photocopiers Rule

Posted: 20 Apr 2012 09:02 PM PDT

The Malaysian Airlines fiasco is continuing. Read this jerker from The Star here:
  • MAS needs to re-engage with its employees
  • (MAS) gone back to the drawing board to re-set its business plan, four months after new business plan.
  • to "re-engage and re-group the employees, re-boot and re-set the business plan"
  • "Eight months have passed and the visibility of change still seems vague.
  • The need to re-engage with the "staff is vital as there are valid reasons why there are people who are still unhappy. Some committees have been formed to address this,"
  • MAS saw the entry of a new team after the share swap and collaboration agreement inked with AirAsia in August 2011.
  • The team announced its business plan to turn MAS around on Dec 8.
  • in the form of "game changers' and "recovery plans."
  • The game changers include the launch of a new regional premium carrier by the middle of this year, exploring more alliances, enhancing collaboration with AirAsia, and spinning off its ancillary businesses, which include its maintenance, repairs and overhaul (MRO) unit. The new carrier is to link Malaysia with Asean, South Asia and Greater China.
  • two weeks ago the airline said it would do away with the plan to set up a short haul airline and instead it would opt to park its short haul operations in a division.
  • without duplicating resources for network planning, marketing, overseas stations, and even baggage handling. Would it better for interlining to just have all parked under one airline like the situation now," said a source.
  • short and long haul operations would be redefined via aircraft type under the new plan.
  • Thus far, MAS is said to have changed its organisational structure three times since the new team took over.
Folks, the dunggus running MAS have changed their business plan three times already

Note the points above from the Star. Each one of them costs money - our money.

This type of news should make us want to throw up. Let me summarise the whole piece ok – they are ripping us off. The GLCs guys don't seem to know a business from a hole in the ground. So they have switched off their minda and pawned it to the con-sultans. We are being conned.

Words like re-set, re-engage, re-group, re-boot, game changers, recovery plans are typical con-sultan bullshit. Obviously none of these "game changer bullshit" has worked because MAS has had to change their business plans three times.

I have a theory that MAS is actually being managed by some crony stationery supplier. You know the guys who supply the business cards, print the company calendars, the A4 typing paper with the company letterheads, company envelopes and such. I think one of these guys has serious cables inside the Gomen or MAS and is exploiting it to the max.

You see, why else would a five star national airline company even pursue the idea of setting up yet another separate short haul airline? And then when reality sinks in, they scrap their plans. But its too late. The letterhead guys would have already made their money printing all the new logos, new business cards and new A4 paper letterheads.

Same with those new colours for that Airbus A380 Super Jumbo. Here is a picture.

The napkin suppliers, the "peanuts in the plastic bag" suppliers, the advertising con-sultans, the media con-sultans and such would have made their money from MAS with their game changer media campaigns, their game changer peanut packets and their game changer napkins.

If ever MAS says, "Oops we cant really do this", well it is too late. The stationery guys will say "Oops we have already printed all the new letterheads. Please pay up".

Yup, I think the stationery suppliers are running MAS. Yup. Its just my guess, a hypothetical situation, but you never know because something really stupid is going on inside MAS.

One of the game changers was "spinning off its ancillary businesses, which include its maintenance, repairs and overhaul (MRO) unit".

Spin off to whom? Spin off to Air Asia lah.

Before this MAS was asked to sell its most profitable Food & Beverage Division to someone with heavy cables. Then MAS had to go and sign a long term food & beverage contract with the new owner of its own Food & Beverage Division. Which con-sultan advised MAS to do that? And MAS pays them millions of Ringgit con-sultancy fees for this type of advice?

Now the con-sultans actually advised MAS to consider selling off their highly regarded and highly profitable Engineering Division to Air Asia (which hardly owns even screw drivers to maintain its aircraft).

So if they sold off the Engineering Division to Air Asia, MAS would have to sign a long term Maintenance Contract with Air Asia pula to service their planes. Banyak cantik. Please read on.

"short and long haul operations would be redefined via aircraft type under the new plan"

This is double talk. What it means is that when the 200 Airbus A320s ordered by Tony Fernandez start being delivered with no where to fly or not enough passenger load, Air Asia can call up MAS and ask them to buy up some or all of those 200 surplus Airbuses. Thats what it means.

Please read between the lines. Ini semua bullshit. And being the dunggus that they are, the Ali Babas at MAS will just do what the 40 Highwaymen tell them.  Danny tak ada otak semua orang tahu. Boss dia tak ada kepala hotak pun semua orang tahu.

"..MAS is said to have changed its organisational structure three times since the new team took over.."

Changed the organisational structure three times? Yup this just means they are dumb as a door knob.

But I think even this is camouflage. Changing the organisational structure three times, four times or five times are just smokescreens. They may even promote some of the union people or give their wives contracts to shut them up. Just more smokescreens.

Here is the real story. Air Asia still has to grapple with those 200 Airbus A320s they have ordered. That is just one too many airplanes. Where will they even find places to park those planes? How many coins will Air Asia need to put inside the parking meter? Nanti 'Time Expired' lah.

Where will they fly them? Where will they service those 200 planes?

Air Asia is cancelling routes remember - now "Everyone Cannot Fly". Why? Because the route has been cancelled mah. Long haul does not work for low cost carriers. The Singaporeans and Hongkees are setting up more low cost airlines which will all eat even more market share in this part of the world. Cashflow cukup ke?

So lets make a toast  to Malaysian Airlines : "Wanna buy an Airbus ah?"

And Tony also wants that Engineering Division. They are still thinking hard how to get their hands on MAS' Engineering Division. This is still Option A with Air Asia. That is the plum in the pudding.

Folks imagine this : Tony sells his Airbuses to MAS. Then he buys over (or somehow gets access to) MAS' Engineering Division. Then MAS has to go to Tony to service and maintain their newly bought second hand Airbuses.

Banyak cantik.  Sahabat nak tanya, siapa mainkan siapa?

Tuan-tuan bila kita kurang peka, orang lain akan cuci lantai dengan muka kita. Ini cakap Mat Salleh lah - daripada "wipe the floor with your face". KIta akan dihina. Pasal hina semua saya tak peduli sangat. Yang lebih penting kita akan rugi duit. Rugi berjuta-juta dan berbillion-billion Ringgit.

Anyway here is more proof that our Gomen has surrendered their minda entirely to the con-sultans.

Miti confirms appointing BCG to study sector

KUALA LUMPUR: Local steel players have something to look forward to in light of the latest development in the Government's future intiatives and policies on the critical sector.

The International Trade and Industry Ministry (Miti) in an email reply yesterday confirmed StarBiz report that Boston Consultancy Group (BCG) has been appointed as the ministry's consultant to undertake a comprehensive study on the entire local steel sector.

The study is scheduled for completion in June.

I have a question - how much is Boston Consulting Group charging MITI for this 'I know you kampong flers cant think' consultancy job? The Gomen of Malaysia is now being run by Boston Consulting Group and Mckinzie from Chicago. (Some say McKinzir).

A question was raised in Parliament last year by YB Wee Choo Keong asking how much Khazanah Nasional pays all its consultans. The answer was that it was a secret, confidential between Khazanah and its consultans.

I say dickheads, Khazanah is a taxpayer owned company lah. There are no secrets about the expenses incurred by a tax payer owned company. Even the ISA has been repealed lah, the Gomen is free for scrutiny and has to reply questions.

Even the Gomen's defense budgets are now discussed freely in public. The Mindef Minister explained in detail about the purchase of those armoured vehicles which the DAP was harping about.

We do not need exact contractual details for each and every consultan.  But we need to know how much consultancy fees Khazanah Nasional incurs on a total annual basis? How many hundred millio is paid to the con-sultans? How much consultancy fees does the Gomen incur on a total annual basis?

(Folks, do note one thing. The DAP NEVER (repeat : NEVER) raises this question ie how much does Khazanah or the Gomen of Malaysia pay all these consultans. There is a simple reason. The same reason the DAP made no noise when that Sarbaini man died at the MACC building or when that young boy Afiq Hamizan died on that football field. The DAP remained as quiet as a door mouse. They made noise when that other fellow flew out the window mysteriously)

Coming back to MITI, why not speak to the steel millers and the large steel buyers to figure out what to do with the steel industry? (Let me give you a hint : that is exactly what the con-sultans will be doing. They borrow your watch, tell you the time and then send you the bill).

Here is something else the con-sultans will be doing. They will go through their database, pull out old files, photo copy old stuff, rewrite it or rejig it and then sell it to you as their bestest and goodest advice. And you will pay them for it.

Here is a picture. It is the HQ of the Boston Consulting Group in Boston, Massachusets.

Malaysian Government policy is being decided by this outfit.
Dont believe me? This is what MITI says :

The International Trade and Industry Ministry (Miti) in an email reply yesterday confirmed StarBiz report that Boston Consultancy Group (BCG) has been appointed as the ministry's consultant to undertake a comprehensive study on the entire local steel sector

Now let me show you who really determines Malaysian Government policy. Here it is :

It is a photocopy machine. They will use this machine to photocopy files and notes and patch together a folder which they will then deliver to the Gomen. Our policies are being dictated by photocopy machines.

Bila kita kurang peka orang lain akan cuci lantai dengan muka kita. Dont say I did not tell you.
