Posted: 25 May 2014 09:41 AM PDT The search for flight MH370 was still ongoing without any single trace of its actual location, had it went down. The multinationals search and rescue (SAR) team were at their best to find it while the families of those crew and passengers waited in despair. Some people came up with various theories about the missing plane, and a few even tried to lucre from it by producing books and films. Latest, film produce Rupesh Paul whose 'Kamasutra' shot him to fame, took advantage of the unsolved incident by producing a 'cheap thrill' movie 'The Vanishing Act' about MH370, not bothered by sentiments surrounding itu. A peek at the film did not reflect Malaysia Airlines except footage of its Boeing 747. It was a B777 that went missing but he was dumb and blind enough to manipulate the whole incident by turning it into an Indian-based movie - featuring non-Malaysian crew and passengers, wrong uniform for the stewardess and a totally insulting-Malaysians tale. It's an Indian version trailer and its better for Paul not to link it to MH370! I wonder what acting Transport Minister Hishammuddin Tun Hussein has to say about this. However, I personally believe Malaysia Airlines and the government should try put a stop to such nonsense. Get a court injunction to stop its production! |
Nothing's wrong with Zahid's reminder Posted: 25 May 2014 02:48 AM PDT Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi did not commit any offense by reminding Rela members to vote in the next general election because it is a right to be practiced by all eligible Malaysians under a democratic system. Casting votes in any election should be made a responsibility. Although it is not and offense not to vote, the result is important because it determines who should be elected as our representative to the Parliament and state assemblies. If each and every voter has done this, there wouldn't be any complaint should the candidate we voted for won or lost. Many Malaysians show disgust and objection at some wakil rakyat after an election but they themselves didn't go to the poll to make their pick, and this is totally unacceptable. This is what Zahid meant. He did not issue any threat to the Rela members, it was just a reminder and nothing's wrong with that. He did not even say action would be taken against those who failed to go to the poll or did not vote for Barisan Nasional in the last general election. What he said was more toward reminding them to exercise their right. So, no point to this DAP chap to jump and ask for Zahid be investigated and punished for breaching the Election Offenses Act.The Umno vice president did the right thing - go to the poll, make your pick before you can complaint about who is right and not to become your wakil rakyat. There are 2.97 million Rela members nationwide who complement the security forces in providing support services for national peace and security. Not only Rela, we can easily detect who did not go to the poll in any election, and that is also not an offense under any existing election act. The only thing we wouldn't know is for whom they voted. |
