What MH370 movie?!

Posted: 25 May 2014 09:41 AM PDT

The search for flight MH370 was still ongoing without any single trace of its actual location, had it went down. The multinationals search and rescue (SAR) team were at their best to find it while the families of those crew and passengers waited in despair.

Some people came up with various theories about the missing plane, and a few even tried to lucre from it by producing books and films.

Latest, film produce Rupesh Paul whose 'Kamasutra' shot him to fame, took advantage of the unsolved incident by producing a 'cheap thrill' movie 'The Vanishing Act' about MH370, not bothered by sentiments surrounding itu.

A peek at the film did not reflect Malaysia Airlines except footage of its Boeing 747. It was a B777 that went missing but he was dumb and blind enough to manipulate the whole incident by turning it into an Indian-based movie - featuring non-Malaysian crew and passengers, wrong uniform for the stewardess and a totally insulting-Malaysians tale.

It's an Indian version trailer and its better for Paul not to link it to MH370!

I wonder what acting Transport Minister Hishammuddin Tun Hussein has to say about this.

However, I personally believe Malaysia Airlines and the government should try put a stop to such nonsense. Get a court injunction to stop its production!

Nothing's wrong with Zahid's reminder

Posted: 25 May 2014 02:48 AM PDT

Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi did not commit any offense by reminding Rela members to vote in the next general election because it is a right to be practiced by all eligible Malaysians under a democratic system.

Casting votes in any election should be made a responsibility. Although it is not and offense not to vote, the result is important because it determines who should be elected as our representative to the Parliament and state assemblies.

If each and every voter has done this, there wouldn't be any complaint should the candidate we voted for won or lost. Many Malaysians show disgust and objection at some wakil rakyat after an election but they themselves didn't go to the poll to make their pick, and this is totally unacceptable.

This is what Zahid meant. He did not issue any threat to the Rela members, it was just a reminder and nothing's wrong with that.

He did not even say action would be taken against those who failed to go to the poll or did not vote for Barisan Nasional in the last general election. What he said was more toward reminding them to exercise their right.

So, no point to this DAP chap to jump and ask for Zahid be investigated and punished for breaching the Election Offenses Act.The Umno vice president did the right thing - go to the poll, make your pick before you can complaint about who is right and not to become your wakil rakyat.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's warning yesterday reminding members of the People's Volunteer Corp (Rela) to come out and vote in the coming by-election in Teluk Intan did not sit well with DAP's Dr Ong Kian Ming.
The Serdang Member of Parliament (MP) said in a statement today that the minister "should be investigated for offences under the Election Offences Act 1954."
At a Rela programme yesterday evening, Zahid told those present that he knew who had failed to cast their votes in the 13th General Election.
"I know who didn't vote. I'm watching the ballot box," he told Rela personnel.
Ong, who was appalled by the statement, urged the Attorney-General to investigate the Home Minister to determine if he had violated Section 5 of the Elections Offences Act 1954 (Maintenance of Secrecy of a Vote), due to his claims of knowing whether a person voted or not.
"How a person voted is a secret and any violation of the secrecy of a person's vote is an offence under Section 5 of the Election Offences Act 1954.
"Does this also mean that he is able to determine how a person has voted? Did he request the Election Commission to supply him with his information?
"And is he using this 'knowledge' as a threat against Rela members who may not vote for the Barisan Nasional candidate?" added Ong.
However, speaking to reporters at a press conference after the Rela event, Zahid said while he did not know who the members would vote for, people could tell from the electoral roll who had turned up on polling day, based on the names and MyKad numbers.
Ong also said Zahid's reported promise to Rela members in Teluk Intan that he would buy them new uniforms should BN candidate Datuk Mah Siew Keong win the by-election should also be investigated.
"I urge the Attorney-General to investigate Zahid Hamidi for bribery, which is an offence under Section 10 of the Election Offences Act 1954.
"The failure of the Attorney-General to act quickly and decisively in response to the remarks of Zahid Hamidi will only further increase the public perception that the office of the Attorney-General only acts when it is in the interest of the BN government," said Ong.
There are 2.97 million Rela members nationwide who complement the security forces in providing support services for national peace and security.

Not only Rela, we can easily detect who did not go to the poll in any election, and that is also not an offense under any existing election act.

The only thing we wouldn't know is for whom they voted.
