Ad Agencies To Vote For Pakatan

Posted: 14 Oct 2012 11:09 PM PDT

  • ALOR SETAR: Advertisers have been told to make sure all models, Muslims or not, featured on billboard promotions are fully covered or these will be rejected by the Alor Setar City Council (MBAS).
  • both male and female models must be fully covered, even for sports advertisements.
  • "non-Muslim female models must make sure that they do not put on pakaian yang menjolokkan mata (revealing clothes)"
  • "must be dressed in T-shirts with sleeves and long pants that cover their legs."
  • male models not encouraged to be in sleeveless tops or short pants.
  • "Otherwise, we will not approve these billboard advertisements"
  • Phineas Fogg, director of Foggy Bottom, an advertising company operating in the northern region, said this "backward move" would scare off investors.
  • "It will make Malaysia lose its competitive edge economically," he added.
  • The council came under fire for taking a cue from Kelantan by requiring even non-Muslim models to be "decently attired" on billboards.
  • those who flouted the ruling would be fined RM300 and have their billboards removed.

This means the following Milo advertisement is also not allowed:

Boleh nampak kepala lutut. And this ad is totally out. Maybe Air Asia will kena rejam dengan batu for this ad.

So those of you who wish to vote for the Pakatan please go ahead.  Maybe the ad agencies will vote for them. This is what you will be voting for. Dont blame this on another UMNO conspiracy ok.

Any Minimum Wage In Malaysia Will Backfire

Posted: 14 Oct 2012 07:44 PM PDT

Here is some news from The Star. The full report can be read here.
  • Pakatan's minimum wage plan will backfire, says Soi Lek
  • Many small and medium companies, and even eateries will close down, triggering massive unemployment if Pakatan Rakyat's RM1,100 minimum wage is implemented.
  • Soi Lek said Pakatan's proposed minimum wage had caused anxiety among the business community.
  • "Some people even asked me whether the proposed RM1,100 minimum wage was a joke as it would be disastrous to their businesses and the country's economic competitiveness," he said.
  • He noted that Pakatan's bid to increase the minimum wage by RM200 would backfire.
  • "It will create massive unemployment in our country," Dr Chua told reporters.

Didnt I tell you so? I say folks, didnt OutSyed The Box tell you so already?

Our beloved country Malaysia is not yet ready for Minimum Wages - any kind of minimum wages at all, whether BN's RM900 minimum wage or the moron Pakatan Rakyat's RM1,100  per month minimum wage. It just wont work.  The reasons include what Chua Soi Lek has said above. I will come to them in a minute.

Minimum wage works best in countries where the vast majority of the entry level workers have  uniformly education or skill levels. For example in countries like the United States the vast majority of their young people (the biggest beneficiaries of a Minimum Wage law) have high school diplomas which are quite standardised. An 18 year old school leaver in the US is a fairly well educated person. They can be trained quickly to learn new job skills.

In Malaysia the average person in Kelantan, Sabah or Kedah may not have the same set of entry level skills compared to someone say from urbanised Penang, Selangor or Kuala Lumpur.

How can you pay a school leaver in the interior of Sabah RM1.100 per month salary and pay a school leaver in Kuala Lumpur or Penang also the same salary? Are you saying that both these people have the same skill sets? Please wake up and smell the sambal belacan ok.

Better still go to Tawau or Semporna, sit at a restaurant and try talking to the native kids to order your food.  (I know some of you may say there is no difference !!)

Then lets talk about the costs of doing business in different parts of Malaysia. You can still have an RM3.00 nasi dagang lunch in Kota Bharu. This is possible because shop rents are cheaper, cost of local fish, kangkong and local meats are cheaper. And workers salaries are cheaper too.  But if you suddenly increase the workers salaries to a minimum of RM1,100 per month, does that mean that the nasi dagang place will automatically also increase its sales to cover the higher operating costs? No it does not.

Which is why Chua Soi Lek says :  "Many small and medium companies, and even eateries will close down, triggering massive unemployment if Pakatan Rakyat's RM1,100 minimum wage is implemented."

I have a suggestion for the Pakatan morons : Why not go a bit further and just promise an RM3,000 minimum wage per month? Dont lah pussy foot around with just RM1,100 per month minimum wages. Go straight for the jackpot. How about RM3,000 minimum wages per month?  Can or cannot?

If cannot, please explain your rationale why you cannot have an RM3,000 per month minimum wage? If we have an RM3,000 minimum wage then all Malaysians will enjoy a higher standard of living with almost no effort. Everyone can buy the car they want (maybe two cars), buy 84 inch LCD TVs, buy houses of their choice etc. So why not?

I am just kidding ok. I hope you can see the futility of this argument. By the same measure, I hope you can see the futility of offering RM1,100 per month minimum wages. And by the same measure I hope you can see the futility of offering even RM900 as Minimum Wages (the BN model).

The same arguments that Chua Soi Lek has used to criticise the Pakatan's RM1,100 minimum wage applies to the BN's minimum wage of RM900 per month. It just wont work in Malaysia - where we have so much disparity in the entry level skills of 18 year old Chinese, Malays, Ibans, Kadazans, Suluks, Tamils, Gujeratis, urban folks, rural folks, Muslims, Buddhists, Christians etc.

We do not yet have the desired economic uniformity in Malaysia. O'wise there will be no more need for Affirmative Action policies.

Let the market find its own level in different parts of the country. 15 years ago when we began our jewellery business in Pantai Dalam we paid our counter girls RM500 salary. These kids lived nearby in the huge conundrum which is Pantai Dalam with over 50,000 people living within a few square kilometres. Costs were low in the neighborhood and this was reflected in the salaries.

Today in 2012 in Masjid India we cannot attract entry level sales staff unless we pay them a minimum RM1000 per month.  They just cannot survive in Kuala Lumpur on anything less. But please understand this : business is more competitive in Masjid India  and we have to sell our goods at prices cheaper than we did in Pantai Dalam. So we suffer higher labour costs but lower selling prices. This means we run on thin margins.

Imagine if we have to pay even higher minimum wages of RM1,100 - tutup kedai lah. We will have to relocate to Serdang or Sungai Buloh. All our staff will lose their jobs.

Unfortunately the philosophy of the "Proton School of Management" still applies in this country - even among the Pakatan morons. Instead of "buy low and sell high", they believe that "buy high is cheaper". They say this will work.

It wont work.  "It will create massive unemployment in our country," Dr Chua told reporters.

DAP : The Rise Of The Evangelicals

Posted: 14 Oct 2012 04:11 AM PDT

Power Blogger Helen Ang has done some pretty slick analysis titled:  Begitu ramai sekali YB Kristian DAP di Parlimen!!  Do read Helen's Blog.

In her latest posting she analyses Lim Kit Siang's statement that there are 35 Members of Parliament who are Christian.

The question should be so what?  Helen Ang's research points out that 21 of our Christian MPs are natives of Sabah and Sarawak. This includes YB Ronald Kiandee who is an UMNO member and MP for Beluran. YB Ronald Kiandee is also the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament.

If you want to crow about it, Malaysia is perhaps the only "Islamic" country now where Christians  (like Ronald Kiandee) are members of a largely Muslim majority party (UMNO) and also the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament.  That is if you want to crow about it.

But there are also Sabah Chinese who are members of UMNO. No one cares really about their religion.  The Christians have been around in this country for centuries. We have been peaceful neighbours for centuries. May Allah bless all those Christian Missionary Schools which educated so many hundreds of thousands of us. I went to a Missionary school as well.

However there is now another class of confused souls around town. These are the Born Again Christian Evangelicals.  This is the Christian version of the Taliban.  They speak English, can drink beers  but they are equally Taliban. Maybe even approaching Al Qaeda class. The vast majority are Chinese and they are converts to Evangelical Christianity. They have just recently seen the light.  Now they want to shine their light in your face until you go blind.

Helen Ang also lists the DAP MPs who are Christian. Here is her list :

DAP

  1. Teresa Kok – Seputeh
  2. Tony Pua – PJ Utara
  3. James Ngeh Koo Ham – Beruas
  4. David Nga Kor Ming – Taiping
  5. Teo Nie Ching – Serdang
  6. Wong Ho Leng – Sibu
  7. Chow Kon Yeow – Tanjong
  8. Lim Lip Eng – Segambut
  9. Charles Santiago – Klang
  10. John Fernandez – Seremban
  11. Hiew King Cheu – Kota Kinabalu
  12. Liew Chin Tong – Bukit Bendera (?)
Jeff Ooi – Jelutong (??)
Anthony Loke – Rasah (??)
Lim Guan Eng (???)

I can safely say that a majority of these folks in DAP are new converts to Christianity. The Born Again, Evangelical type who have just seen the light. These are the folks who now want to shine their new found light in your face until you go blind.

These folks have nothing to do with the Ronald Kiandee (UMNO) type of Christian or the Wilfred Bumburing (Pakatan) type of Christian. These are the Taliban Evangelicals.

Folks, dont say I did not warn you but the Taliban Evangelicals are taking over the DAP. These are the same folks who will teach your children to come home and tell their parents "If you dont accept Jesus Christ, you will go to hell". (I heard that from a Buddhist Chinese some years ago. He was very upset.)
